Botanically speaking, the tomato is a fruit because it comes from a flower. But in culinary terms, it's considered a vegetable because it's mainly used in savoury dishes.
Tomatoes are the most consumed vegetable in France. With thousands of varieties – cherry, vine, round, plum, beef and even Black Krim – there's a tomato for every taste. Tomatoes are available all year round but their peak season is from May to September.
