You need three ingredients to make chocolate: cocoa solids, cocoa butter and sugar. Milk can also be added for milk chocolate. To make white chocolate, the cocoa solids are removed, leaving only the cocoa butter, sugar and milk.
Cocoa beans are contained in pods, the fruit of the cacao tree, a small tree mainly cultivated in Africa, Indonesia and South America. Some countries, like Venezuela and Ecuador, while not big producers, supply very high-quality cocoa.
