Açaí Berry

Açaí Berry

Did you know?

According to legend, the small Açaí berries are the fruit of a palm tree at the foot of which a young Amazonian named Iaça mourned her sacrificed son until she died of grief. It's for this reason that the natives call this berry 'içá-çai', which means 'the fruit that weeps'.

Açaí berries are the fruits of a palm tree that grows in the Amazon rainforest in northern Brazil, which is where we get ours from.  Purple in colour, they look like blueberries, but they taste more like chocolate!
